    aftermarket oil press sender

I have my gauges in my car (H2O, Boost, Oil Press). When I turn the ignition on so they get power, the H2O temp needle rises slightly, boost does nothing, but oil press shoots all the way up. I don't have the sensors hooked up so I think that's what's wrong. Does the oil sensor function like a variable resistor to keep the needle from spiking up or is there something wrong with the gauge? When it loses power, it goes back down.

did you modify the oil pressure sender? or change the wiring??

sounds like the polarity are reversed

I don't even have the sender hooked up ATM... the gauge has 6 wires (3 for the gauge, 3 for the light). The ones for the gauge are Sensor, + and -. I hooked the + and - into the radio loom (+12v when acc/on).

If the oil pressure sender isn't hooked up with some aftermarket guages they will spike to full. The sender is a variable resistor to earth, with full resistance being 0psi oil pressure. When you hook the sender up it will operate as normal Maz

Maz, if I understand correctly you still have the stock oil pressure sender yes?
The sender for the Aust model has the gauge and the light. The N American model having only the light is a different sender. You may have to order a kit from the gauge manufacturer to make it work properly.
I'm running into the same prob myself.

Rik: I have the sender from the manufacturer (GlowShift) and haven't hooked it up yet... the wires on the gauge that are currently hooked up are the ones for the light and the needle motor power... sender is still not wired in.
