why are you even going to Jaycar?? you should try like paralell imported or botany sound and security. Also just going for a high powered sub and amp combo is not always best. In any good audio system you want a good sound aswell as loudness. For your car I would recomend using like a Pioneer sub with a Rockford amp and anybrand 1farad cap. That would seriously crank in your car. When I had my first car (1994 Pulsar X1) I had a Reactor 300w amp with a Lightning audio 800w Sub in a Kmart box and it was loud as (I an you could hear me from about 200m away) but i didnt match the wattage of the amp and the sub and the voicecoil went.
Also what I would to is "wear in: your sub when you get it This means to play it quietly for about a month then half volume for another month, three quaters for another month and then you can go any volume with it and there will be no excursion with your sub. This will also allow you to get a more loud and pute sound out of your subwoofer.

Just some things you might want to know.

chrisdabom.. you obviously don't know how well built and powerful the jaycar amps are for the price you pay, for the price they double the power of other amps (in rated watts; rms, not max power) and are really well made, sure if i had the money i would get a blaupunkt burning desire II, but these are simply so expensive!!

you say buy a pioneer sub and use a rockford amp, what models are you talking about, i've heard many of these systems and quite honestly they don't come close to my 2x10" kenwoods and kenwood amp...

Bang for buck and build quality, go for jaycar amps.. but don't get their subs.. go digital designs.. wooo!!

sorry if i sounded like an asshole just then, didn't mean to!

Yup; so many people forget that speakers need 'running in'. Also, do you want sound quality, or just mega-bass? A sub is great, but too much bass overwhelms the sound quality & kills your eardrums! Plus think of all that time sticking anti-drum matting all over the place to try & kill the rattles!

I would never buy stereo gear from repco!!! Kenwood are not sold at repco, Kicker are though! (but kicker is still good stuff)

For digital designs stuff have a look at FHRX Studios, they are australian, but he is a member of these forums and will do you a good price

Infact, contact FHRX studio's about anything to do with audio stuff, they are really helpful and know a hell of a lot!!

I just want to say not to down goods sold af REPCO just because they are sold at REPCO.
The speaker I was refering to Pioneer TS-W306C coupled with a P3001 and a Soundstream SC- 1 Capacitor In my friends Nissan Pulsar X1. This created a db of 110+. This was a cheap install with Huge benefits. Bearing in mind that the car was a hatch back this was still an awesome result for the cost.
Now if you were to get the Rockford P6001BD anplifier (which would match the wrms of the sub to amp better) run in the sub for a while and then tune it, I dont see why you wouldnt get around the same sound.
chkn I would just like to mention to you that you are running two subs not one and of course it will give yo a louder sound. Also you would be gtting a more punchy sound because of them being 10" speakers. (oh and by the way just unless you doubt my knowledge. Aswell as my own cars audio experience I have assisted in the build of many a 120db+ car and even my friends old laser which recorded 128.8 db who was sponsored by alpine car audio, he was running full F1 series, pity it was only a sponored car though, because with a bit more tuning and a better shaped box he nwould have easily reached 130+db...he was also not allowd to compete in db drg which I think was unfair on his sponsore behalf)

I wasn't doubting your knowledge of car stereo, i was doubting your knowledge of the jaycar range of amps...

Using jaycar gearb I have installed a 133Db system in a mates trx (not sure what gear exactly, was a few years ago) For the price jaycar gear is worth it, thats what i was getting at.

The reason I will not buy stereo gear from repco is because the sell cheap shit (except the kicker gear, but they dont stock the top of the range gear) for instance their "super sound" speakers boast 600+ watts (peak) and sound like shit, and don't get me started on their "boss audio" amplifiers.. 1000+ watts (peak) they are just a joke.

Just curious why you used a Cap on that 110+ system? In the TRX we were having problems with the amp cutting out at high volume, but we just installed a larger capacity battery (yellow top optima) and was fine, I haven't seen any real advantage to a cap on systems with anything under 130db, im not doubting there was a reason you used it, just curious why.

On another note, I was in the market for the 1500wrms jaycar monoblock a month or so ago but no one would go a group`buy with me, and since im in aus its not worth the shippin fee's, good luck getting others tho

Lol you are talking about Supercheap Auto I think, because they are the ones that hold the Brand name "Super Sound"
NZ Repco Stocks Kenwood, Pioneer, Fusion and Lanzar*edit* and dub aswell*edit*.
We used the cap because the guy was going for a nice looking setup aswell as a functional setup. The capacitor allowed him to retain his standard battery yet still get the power that a 700+cca battery would provide. In new Zealand higher cca rated batteries are quite expensive. The guy in the Laser that i was talking about was rnning a 1100cca battery and it cost him just ovet a grand NZD, so buting a $120 cap was more effective and better value for money. Also I you get a "bigger" battery you should generally look into getting a higher ampage alternator, and the owner of the car was not willing to but one as it was a stupid price.
